GDPR Countdown Has Begun, Make Sure You Are Compliant by May 2018

If you do not know what GDPR is, this article is for you. Now is the time to start understanding how it may impact your business, as the European Unions General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) are coming into force May 2018.

This will apply to any business which is either operating in Europe or targeting European businesses and the penalties for not being compliant could result in Organisations being fined up to 4% of annual global turnover for breaching GDPR or €20 Million.

You will have read too many times “companies being cyber attacked and personal data being breached” and these companies either not having true consent from the people who they hold data on, or even worse, not really knowing what personal data your organization was holding which was breached.

We could easily write chapter and verse on what GDPR actually means and how this affects businesses, but that is not the intent of this blog. Our main intent is to make our customers aware of these regulations and to provide you with the relevant links to all the information you need to work towards being compliant.

If this is the first time you have heard about GDPR or would like to find out more on how this may affect your business, then I would recommend reviewing the dedicated European Union GDPR portal which has all the content you need and an excellent FAQ page, along with “how to prepare”.

But what does this mean for our customers with Dynamics 365?

Is Dynamics 365 compliant with GDPR? In short, Yes. Microsoft is committed to helping its commercial customers achieve GDPR compliance and were the first major cloud provider to offer the contractual commitments required by GDPR. We would strongly recommend that you also review Microsoft’s dedicated GDPR page.

If you know us, then you know we love video! Therefore, its fitting to also point out a great video released by Microsoft which discusses Trust, Privacy and the GDPR, click here.

Remember we are also here to assist if you have any questions or concerns. Do not hesitate to contact your account manager, especially if you deal or target European based businesses, or contact us.
